Our next prophecy comes from Genesis 12:7. In it God says to Abraham, “To your seed I will give this land.” This prophecy is explained in Galatians 3:16. Here is what Paul writes, “The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say ‘and to seeds’ meaning many people but ‘and to your seed’ meaning one person, who is Christ Jesus.” Jesus was a seed of Abraham and God’s promise was directed to Jesus.
I have realized that 365 prophecies are way over my head to tell you. Now I have decided to skip some of the more complex prophecies in Genesis and continue on to Exodus.
The first prophecy from Exodus. In Exodus 13:14 God says to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites. ‘I AM has sent me to you.”Here God is telling Moses how to get the Israelites to believe Moses is sent by God. In John 4:26 Jesus does the same thing to convince a Samaritan woman that he is the Messiah. In John 4:25 she says, “I know that Messiah is coming. When he comes he will explain everything to us.” In response Jesus says in John 4:26, “I who speak to you am he.” In this scripture Jesus tells the woman he is the Christ and then the woman returns to her town and many of the Samaritans become believers in Jesus.
Next we look to the Passover as explained to Moses by God. In Exodus 12:5 God tells Moses that the animals they choose for sacrifice must be, “animals without defect.” In 1 Peter 1:19 Peter tells use how we have been saved. He says our salvation came from the, “precious blood of Jesus Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” Now to explain this we look at the process of sacrifice. God told the Jews to sacrifice lambs without defect. But these sacrifices of lamb never promised us eternal salvation. For eternal salvation God sent his son Jesus to become the final and ultimate sacrifice. When Jesus died on the cross as a pure ‘lamb’ all our sins were forgiven and no more sacrifice was needed. That is why Peter tells us that our salvation came through the unblemished sacrifice of Jesus.
Those of you who have not given yourself to Christ I urge you now, time is short but with Jesus we have eternity. Please begin to live your life through Jesus and learn to give thanks to God for the awesome gift he has given us through his son Jesus.
Pray with me… God I thank you for my salvation, please welcome me to live my life through your eyes and to be a servant to you every moment of my life. In you holy name, Amen.
